Polygon on MetaMask- Fluidcoins

Over the past few years, Polygon has risen to become one of Ethereum’s most widely-adopted layer-2 scaling solutions. This is largely due to its fast transaction speed and lower costs. We recently integrated the Polygon Network on Fluidcoins. This means users can now make payments to their favorite Fluidcoins merchants via the network without having to encounter the excessive gas fees they would otherwise have had to pay on the Ethereum mainnet.

MetaMask is a non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet and browser extension that connects to the Ethereum mainnet by default. MetaMask also allows you to interact with the Polygon blockchain, however, it does not include Polygon as a network by default. Connecting your MetaMask wallet to Polygon is a straightforward process that takes only a few minutes.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to connect your MetaMask wallet to the Polygon Network.

Step 1: Install and set up a MetaMask Wallet

You will need to install the MetaMask wallet plugin on your web browser if you haven’t already. You can do this here. After you’ve downloaded and installed the extension, you can quickly configure it by accessing your extensions.

Step 2: Add Polygon Network to Your MetaMask

After setting up your MetaMask wallet, all you need to do now is add the Polygon network to it so you can use it. Simply select the Add Network button from the network dropdown menu next to the circular logo.

Step 3: Fill in the Network details

You will be redirected to a new screen where you can add a custom network. Enter the following details in the appropriate fields;

Network Name: Polygon Mainnet, New RPC URL: https://polygon-rpc.com, ChainID: 137, Symbol: MATIC, Block Explorer URL: https://polygonscan.com/.

After you’ve filled out all the needed fields, click Save to add the network to your wallet.

How to import Polygon tokens into your MetaMask Wallet

Please note that Polygon tokens other than MATIC will have to be imported manually to appear on your wallet UI.

To import a Polygon token to your MetaMask Wallet please follow the steps below;

  1. Head over to PolygonScan and look for the token contract and data for the token you want to add or alternatively, retrieve the contract address from the project’s official website or social media. Note* Scammers may construct fake contracts, so be cautious.

2. Back in MetaMask, select Import Tokens.

3. Copy and paste the token’s contract address, token symbol, and token decimal. Click Add Custom Token to complete the process.

4. Finish up by Clicking Import Token.

Polygon is now set up on your MetaMask wallet. This means you can begin making payments to your favorite Fluidcoins merchants, collect NFTs, engage with different DeFi applications, and much more.

However, MetaMask is not just for the Ethereum and Polygon network. It also supports the entire Ethereum ecosystem. By following this guide, you’re now ready to add more chains and begin exploring.

Note* you can carry out this process automatically if you already have the MetaMask extension installed by simply heading over to https://chainlist.org/ and selecting the network you want to add.
